No matter what industry you're in, you will have competitors, so you need to make sure that you are a cut above them. If you have been twiddling your thumbs and wondering how you're going to make your business stand out from the competition, it's a sign you're ready to take your business to the next level.
Here are some tips that will help you make your business more attractive to your target audience.
What's Your UVP?
No matter what industry you are in, you need to make sure that you have what is called a UVP. Your UVP is your unique value proposition.
This is a thing that your business has in that no other business is currently giving customers in your target industry.
What products can you sell that your competitors are not currently stocking? If you're in a service business, what services can you provide that lets you stand out?
Identify Competitor Gaps
Know the pain points of your target audience. Once you find out what their pain points are, you can do your best to address them.
For example, if enough people buy a product from one of your competitors, and they complain that they wish they had more colors to choose from, go ahead and add more colors of that particular product to your line.
Do some digging to find out where your competitors are not fulfilling the needs of their customers. You can then slide right in and woo those customers away from them.
Make Paying Easy
Have you ever tried to buy something only to find out that paying is giving you a hassle and a headache? Your first instinct may be to move on and find another product or service that you can easily pay for without a hassle.
With this in mind, you need to make sure that you can easily take payments. Don't make customers walk away with their money in their pockets. You need that in your cash register.
Have all the necessary payment options in place so that your customers can easily find a way that best suits them to pay. You should even have a smartphone card reader in place as this is the latest technology.
Customer Care
Maybe you can't compete on anything that has been discussed so far. However, there's one area in which you have total control and can definitely compete. That is in the area of customer service.
Customer service that is top-notch will see your customer being pampered and put on a pedestal. This is one of the hallmarks of a successful business.
If you do customer care better than your competition you just might find that customers gravitate towards your business. Again you're going to have to do some Sherlock Holmes work. Find out where your competitors are not fulfilling their customer service correctly and then fill in the gaps.
There's a lot that should be considered if you are trying to make your business stand out from your competition. All you have to do is make sure that you are sliding into those gaps that they are not filling and you should be on your way to success.
