Why you should contribute
You get a backlink. This helps your site. If you don't have a blog, use this to practice. You can learn how to write for the web.
Freelancers can build a portfolio here. It proves you have skills. I share every post on my social media and in my newsletter. People will see your face.
Sometimes I pay. If your post brings in a sponsor or affiliate cash, I might share the profit with you.
Don't submit any writing that has been published elsewhere. After it was been approved and published here, wait 7 days and then you can also re-post on Medium or LinkedIn. You must use the canonical tag if you put it on your own site or on Medium or elsewhere. If your story drives engagment, we can chat on my podcast or YouTube channel. What to write about
Check the home page first. See what my readers like. Use the search bar. Do not send me an idea I already covered.

If you write a listicle, use odd numbers like 3, 7, 9, 13, or 47 in the title. I do not want “Top 5” or “Top 10” articles. Stand out. Be unique.
The Rules
I have standards. Follow them.
- Length. Write at least 1500 words. Go deep. Short articles are for Medium.
- No AI. Ever. I do not want AI text. I will know. If you send me bot-written stuff, I will reject it and prevent you from submitting any new content.
- Be Original. Do not copy others. If I find out you plagiarized, I will ban you. I will remove your work.
- Google Docs. Share your content with me via Google Docs. Make sure to give me “edit” access.
- Links. I allow you to include up to 3 dofollow external links to your content. Also try to include at least one or two links internally to other pages on my blog, AndrewMurrayHQ.com
- Images. Use screenshots for tutorials. Do not add photos just to fill space. Give credit to the owner. Let me know if it is an AI generated image or a screenshot you took. We have to credit the source.
- Ownership. When you submit, I own the post. This helps with legal issues.
- Comment: Comments are live conversations about your published article. So please answer any questions and respond to comments about your article. This will give you more exposure and help out your readers.
Style and Format
Keep it simple. Use short words. If you can cut a word, do it.
Use H2 and H3 tags. The Title is the only H1 tag.
Keep paragraphs to five sentences or less. Run your draft through a spell checker. Use Hemingway to fix messy sentences.
Be direct. Use “I” and “you.” Avoid the passive voice. Just say what you mean. Opinionated writing is better than safe writing. Got an opininon? Just say it!
