How to Connect With Influencers and Stand Out

In today's world, a personal touch goes a long way. It's become rarer, and anything that is rare, gains in value.

There are lots ways to market in bulk – from autoresponders (here's a great free one to try), to bulk mail outreach tools like MailShake.

But to really stand out from the crowd, you need to do something not many people are doing.

You'll learn how to do just that in this blog post.

The Solo Effect

When was the last time you received a handwritten letter in the mail?

Do you remember how it made you feel? And conversely, when did you last receive a mass-produced salesletter in the mail, customized only with your name and address? Did you even bother to read it?

Using a personal touch can get you past the gatekeepers.

This is actually a great way to reach JV partners, or to connect with influencers in your niche.

Everybody is required by CAN-SPAM laws to have a physcial mailing address at the end of their emqails – so finding an addresss is not difficult for most influencer or JV partners.

But, like text messages over emails, your message stands out when it is actually handwritten.

Standing out – in any marketing space is challenging… Until now.

Stand Out + Save Time

I came across a cool service that blew me away.

It's called Handwrytten, and it allows the personal touch at a little bit of scale and without much time.

Whatever you type… but in real pen and ink…delivered!

Basically you type whatever it is you want to communicate in a card.

Then, you choose your handwritten style (written by robots with real ink pens.)

And they write and deliver your high-touch, high-impact letter to the recipient.

Job done!

Other Ideas To Connect

This is great for standing out, but it can also be a quick way to really connect with a friend you haven't seen in persona in a while. (Thanks, COVID!)

Now, full disclosure, I have not actually used the Handwrytten service, but the more I think about my idea to connect with serious influencers using it, it seems like a fantastic opportunity to test out.

I don't know about you, but since I work more and more on computers, my own handwriting has degraded over the past decade. And my hands are not accustomed to writing more than a few lines at a time.

So you can get the time saving features of bulk marketing, and the personal touch of one-on-one marketing.

Just be sure to plan what you want to say.

If you do use a link in your letter, make sure you use a free link shortening service like this one – and customize the end of the link to something easy to type – as your reader will have to type it the link if they want to visit – so be sure to use some curiosity to boost clicks also!

But using a link shortener should still allow you to track the results from your marketing – and that's something I'm always passionate about doing.

I can't say for sure what the results will be, but it certainly looks like something I will try out.

Christmas Card Upgrade Anyone?

Of course, you can also use this to send out more thoughtful Christmas Cards – both personally and if you send out Christmas Cards professionally to your contacts as many mortgage brokers or real estate agents do.

(You can even automate this as they integrate with Salesforce, Hubspot and Zapier among others.)

Plus they even have an iOS App (and an Android App.)

Instead of tossing it aside, I might be putting this one on my mantle if I got one.

Saying Thanks with a Pop!

Gratitude is in short supply. Everyone is busy. I get that. But if you want to say thank you or write some upgraded thank you notes, give it a shot.

See how different cultures say, “Thank You.”

Pretty wild and great way to stand out if you work with people from different cultures.

Give Handwrytten a try today and let me know how it goes.
